Are there any common issues encountered when using these types of lithium-ion battery packs for drones?
When lithium-ion batteries are left discarded or unused for six months or longer, the battery’s charge may drop to zero, which can damage the battery and affect its ability to charge or discharge properly. To combat this issue, our engineers have designed drone battery packs with Smart BMS (Battery Management System). With Smart BMS, an LED display allows you to easily read your battery’s voltage and capacity. The Smart BMS gives a warning when it reads a 20% battery charge level and will enter a deep sleep mode to prevent unnecessary draining of or damage to the battery. When the drone needs to be used again, simply charging the battery for a solid amount of time will “wake up” the battery from its deep sleep mode.
What types of Battery Management Systems (BMS) does CMB offer for drone batteries?
Our drone batteries include BMS’s with overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, and short circuit protection. We also offer Smart BMS options by incorporating UART or CANBUS communication protocols into the BMS design. Smart BMS’s ensure the battery is operating in the safest and most optimal manner, and may also prolong battery life.

We utilize two popular welding methods in the production of our drone battery packs: busbar welding with pure nickel plates (not nickel sheets) and laser welding. We also use customized tools during the welding process that ensure the joining is strong and the end product operates efficiently.
