Note: IEC 60529 does not define a specific submersion depth or duration for IP68. It requires the manufacturer and customer to agree on test conditions more severe than IP67. Don’t select on the IP68 label alone — confirm the actual test depth and duration behind it.

Most waterproof battery packs claims are a printed IP rating with no visible proof behind it. Here’s our actual IP67 immersion test — the battery pack submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes with no bubble leakage, confirming seal integrity.

1 · Structural Design — Housing & Interfaces

One-piece stamped/extruded aluminum housing with laser-welded seams, no gap at the joint. Cable outlets use IP67/68-rated waterproof connectors, sealing sleeves, and silicone plugs.

2 · Sealing Materials — Static Seals

O-rings and gaskets (silicone/fluoroelastomer), insulating buffer pads, and sealant close off every assembly gap the housing design leaves behind.

3 · Component Protection — BMS Coating

Conformal coating (acrylic/silicone) or a dip-applied nano coating on the protection board, guarding against humidity and salt-fog corrosion at the component level. Spec available on request.

4 · Potting CORE LAYER — Full / Dual Vacuum Potting

Potting compound fills every internal cavity, vacuum-degassed and cured. One step, four jobs: waterproofing, vibration damping, heat dissipation, flame-retardant delay.

Why not oil immersion? A breached oil-filled housing can leak oil into surrounding water — a real environmental risk for marine equipment. We use solid, contained potting instead.

5 · Pressure Equalization — Breather Valve

ePTFE membrane valve equalizes internal/external pressure (preventing the “breathing effect” from drawing in moisture) and vents pressure in milliseconds during thermal runaway. Available as a specified option.

6 · Verification — Factory Test Chain

Hermetic pressure test → IPX7/IP68 immersion → salt fog → thermal cycling → drop/vibration → dust ingress, before any pack ships.

One-line test: the IP rating alone means nothing — check for potting + breather valve + hermetic testing together, or the “breathing effect” pulls moisture in over time.

What's the difference between IP67 and IP68?

IP67 covers temporary immersion — 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. IP68 covers continuous submersion at a depth and duration agreed between manufacturer and customer, since the standard itself doesn’t fix those numbers.

Is IP65 the same as waterproof?

No. IP65 protects against dust and water jets, but not submersion — it shouldn’t be immersed even briefly. If your equipment might ever be dunked or submerged, you need IP67 or IP68, not IP65.

Can CMB test to a custom depth and duration beyond standard IP67/IP68 baselines?
