Why does a security camera battery fail specifically in cold weather?
Standard lithium-ion cells lose usable capacity as temperature drops because internal resistance rises and ion mobility slows. Below a certain threshold, the pack can no longer sustain the camera’s load even at a high state of charge. Low-temperature-rated 26650 LiFePO4 cells are formulated to keep more of that capacity usable in cold conditions.
